Risky Business

It’s been in every mag I flip! Lingerie as outerwear…I think it looks fabulous on the runway, but how can it possibly be translated to “every-day-wear”? I can’t fathom walking into the office with a sheer blouse over my lingerie top-It’s just not happening… I don’t even see how ANY aspect of this trend would be appropriate for any office environment! Well… unless you work at Vogue,Elle,Allure,MC or any fashion-forward magazine that will truly understand what you are trying to pull off. 😉

So, why has this become one of the Spring 2010 trends?? Not sure, but if you can enlighten me on this style,please do so.

Row,Row,Row Your Boat

Who knew boat shoes could be so chic? I am obsessed with these patent-leather  boat shoes by Timberland. They come in purple, red and black and they are just perfect. I would definitely go for the purple or red to add a pop of color to any casual outfit. Who needs to accessorize with a pair of shoes like this?

The  best part is they are reasonably priced at $80. Well worth it for a unique and fashionable pair of flats.

Jeggings!

This leggings-jean hybrid has  taken the leggings mania to a whole new level. I have read about this new trend in several magazines and have also discussed it with other fashionistas (Kate and Gabrielle), it’s definitely one of those love it or hate it trends and I for one LOVE it.

I have become so accustomed to just wearing leggings in various types of fabric– faux leather,cotton, and sequins to name a few– that I am finding it difficult to put on a regular pair of jeans! This combination of jeans and leggings is the solution to all my jean dilemmas.  The “jeggings” are a thicker type of legging making it more “forgiving” for any problem areas.

The wonderful thing about jeggings is that like many regular leggings they are super cheap! You can easily get a pair for around $20 (try Forever), or you can splurge and get a designer pair of jeggings like the Sevens’ shown here for a little over $100.  Either way, they’re cheaper than jeans with the comfort of leggings.

90210-Brenda’s Back!

Well… not really but her fashion sense is. The 2010 Spring collections were packed with floral prints, long shoulder bags, bum bags and yes, even cycling shorts! The Brenda Walsh look is back and in a big way. Let’s face it- the 80’s are so last season.

Much like leggings, please do NOT attempt to wear cycling shorts alone. They are meant to be worn under shorter skirts, longer tees or mini dresses. Punch up your skirts, shorts and update your rompers with a floral print, and lastly… if you dare… the bum bag aka “fanny pack”  is back! Of course the new version of the bum bag is made by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton (he can do no wrong in my eyes). Personally, I will pass on the bum bag and opt for a longer strapped shoulder bag that hits the hip. It’s still retro 90’s- but not overboard. 😉
